Facilities Support Worker (Transport and Portering)
37.5 hours per week covering shifts 5 over 7 days to include weekends and bank holidays. There will be a requirement to work night shifts to cover annual leave.
The Facilities Support Worker is an important member of the team who helps provide a range of duties across the Trust in a professional manner. We are looking to recruit a hardworking and enthusiastic individual to join our Portering and Transport team based at Kendray Hospital. The Facilities Support Worker roles are part of a team working within an integrated Facilities Services department, offering a high quality, flexible and customer focused service.

Main duties of the job
* Carry out general portering duties and the delivery/collection of meals, pharmacy, mail, laundry and refuse, and undertake basic maintenance tasks.
* Work as part of a team, prioritise daily duties and maintain a professional approach at all times.
* Carry out general mail tasks: collection, sorting and delivery to destinations; obtain proof of receipt as required.
* Deliver, remove or transfer equipment between Trust premises and deliver stores and food to wards/ villas.
* Security duties: secure buildings, manage keys, security checks during silent hours, monitor CCTV, liaise with security, and reset burglar alarms as required.
* Linen and refuse collections: collect dirty linen/rubbish from wards and departments; dispose of cytotoxic waste following DoE guidelines.
* Maintenance responsibilities: assist with Trust property and services, carry out planned and some repairs as directed (e.g., fire alarm monitoring, temperature checks, door closers, vehicle maintenance, grounds maintenance, etc.).
* Carry out any other reasonable tasks as instructed by the Portering / Transport Manager.
* Drive hospital/plant vehicles as required (not HGV) and operate them in accordance with road traffic regulations.
* Contribute to safety: use protective clothing/equipment, follow safety guidance and risk management practices.
Qualifications and requirements
* Essential: Basic literacy and numeric skills.
* Essential: A current driving licence and access to a car during the working day (reasonable adjustments for disability).
* Essential: Ability to work as part of a team, flexible with working patterns, and have a caring, friendly attitude.
* Essential: Able to deliver high standards of work, retain knowledge, and work with minimal supervision.
* Essential: Manual Handling and Fire safety training; commitment to undertaking relevant training.
* Desirable: Infection Control, COSHH, De-escalation & Break Away, Food Hygiene, and First Aid.
