Job Title: Subject Lead of Physics
A School in Staines are seeking to appoint an inspirational and highly motivated Subject Lead of Physics to provide outstanding leadership and direction within their Science faculty.
An exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher to take a pivotal role in shaping the strategic development of Physics and ensuring excellent outcomes for all learners.
This role requires a dynamic and reflective practitioner with a strong track record of excellent classroom teaching and the ability to lead, support, and develop others. The successful candidate will have a clear vision for high-quality Physics education and the ability to translate this into consistently excellent practice across the department.
Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership for Physics across all key stages
*
Lead, manage, and develop staff within the department, including coaching and performance development
*
Design, implement, and review an ambitious and inclusive Physics curriculum
*
Ensure consistently high-quality teaching and learning across the department
*
Monitor student progress, attainment, and assessment data, using this to inform intervention strategies
*
Lead departmental CPD to improve teaching practice and student outcomes
*
Promote outstanding behaviour for learning and consistently high expectations
*
Oversee assessment, examination preparation, and standardisation across the department
*
Produce reports on departmental performance for senior leaders as required
*
Contribute to whole-school improvement priorities and the wider life of the school
Person Specification
The successful candidate will:
* Be an outstanding classroom practitioner with strong subject knowledge in Physics
* Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
* Demonstrate the ability to lead, inspire, and develop staff
* Have a strong understanding of curriculum development, assessment, and raising attainment
* Be committed to ensuring excellent outcomes for all students
* Be reflective, collaborative, and committed to ongoing professional development
* Be able to motivate students and staff to achieve their full potential
