Progress Teachers are supporting a local mainstream secondary school to appoint a Senior Science Technician to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff, as well as managing a team of technicians, to support the delivery of engaging and safe science lessons across all year groups.
Responsibilities:
* Lead and coordinate the work of the Science Technician team.
* Prepare, deliver, and set up resources / equipment for practical science lessons.
* Ensure labs, prep rooms, and equipment are clean, well-maintained, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
* manage inventory and ordering of materials / chemicals etc.
* maintain accurate records of equipment, stock levels, and COSHH/cleapss documentation.
* Support staff and students during practical lessons, offering technical advice as appropriate.
* Lead on the safe disposal of hazardous waste and the management of risk assessments.
* Assist with the training and mentoring of new technicians.
* Consistently promote and safeguard the welfare of all pupils.
Qualifications / Requirements:
* A degree in or related to Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics is highly desirable.
* Previous experience working as a science technician, preferably in a school or educational setting.
* Strong understanding of health and safety procedures in laboratories (including COSHH and CLEAPSS guidelines).
* Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and manage a small team.
* Good communication skills and a collaborative, proactive approach.
* A DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain
