Job overview

An exciting opportunity in nursing leadership role has arisen for a Band 7 Ward Manger to lead Britten Ward -the hyper acute stroke unit at Epsom Hospital on a secondment. We seek a natural, self-motivated leader whose spirit will continue to drive forward the standards of care for the stroke unit, who relishes a challenge, flourishes in a fast paced environment with a natural aptitude for managing ever changing priorities to meet clinical and operational need.

Main duties of the job

Ward Manager key responsibilities are to:
1. 24-hour accountability, including line management of their ward and the delivery of high quality care with all appropriate systems and processes in place to ensure the continuity of safe and effective care for patients and a safe working environment for staff at all times.
2. Support and contribute to the development of patient care and practice within the Directorate, contributing to Trust projects where required and ensuring provisions are made for staff to develop their knowledge and skills.
3. Ensure junior staff and students have appropriate supervision, support and are appropriately assessed.
4. Facilitate and organise the daily running of the ward liaising with the wider team of medical staff, bed manager and allied health care professional.
