Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week (specific schedule to be agreed within practice opening hours)

Join Our Friendly, Forward-Thinking GP Practice We are seeking an experienced Medical Receptionist to join our busy, supportive team - a well-established GP training practice serving over 12,000 patients. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a progressive healthcare environment where patient care and teamwork are top priorities.
About the Role You will be the first point of contact for patients, providing a professional, friendly, and efficient reception and administrative service. Your responsibilities will include greeting and assisting patients, managing appointments, handling queries, processing prescriptions, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the front desk.
Key Responsibilities
1. Welcome and assist patients and visitors in person and by phone
2. Book, cancel, and manage appointments and home visits
3. Register new patients and manage temporary registrations
4. Process prescriptions accurately and in line with practice protocols
5. Handle incoming and outgoing mail
6. Manage patient results and direct to appropriate clinicians
7. Maintain accurate electronic patient records (EMIS experience desirable)
8. Scan and file clinical correspondence
9. Ensure confidentiality, security, and patient data protection at all times
10. Open and close the premises when scheduled
11. Support clinical and admin teams with day-to-day duties and projects
12. Maintain the reception and waiting area to a high standard
What We’re Looking For Essential:
13. GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade C or above) or equivalent
14. Previous experience in Medical Administration or GP Receptionist Duties
15. Strong IT and communication skills
16. Excellent telephone manner and interpersonal skills
17. Knowledge of EMIS clinical system

18. Flexibility to provide cover during holidays and sick leave required
19. This role may involve working outside core office hours on occasion (1x AM weekend shift required per year for flu vaccination clinics)
