Principal Power Electronics Engineer Leamington Spa, United Kingdom | Permanent, Full-Time We're recruiting on behalf of a leading international engineering consultancy, specialising in the development of sustainable electrified propulsion systems and associated technologies for OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and research bodies across the automotive, aerospace, off-highway, defence, and clean energy sectors. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Principal Power Electronics Engineer to take the lead on technical development and innovation, working on clean-sheet designs across inverters, DCDCs, onboard chargers and related systems. What You'll Be Doing * Lead the design and specification of magnetics and capacitors for power converters and inverters * Design and develop mixed signal systems and digital processing platforms * Carry out system simulations using tools like Simscape and PLECS * Collaborate with control engineers to define control strategies for converters/inverters * Ensure designs meet standards such as IEC61508, ISO26262, and CISPR25 * Lead multi-disciplinary projects, from proposal through delivery * Act as the technical interface to key customers and internal stakeholders * Support business development by contributing to proposals and marketing * Provide mentorship and share knowledge with the wider engineering team What We're Looking For Essential: * Proven experience developing power electronic systems such as inverters, DCDCs, OBCs, etc. * Background in at least two relevant sectors: automotive, aerospace, marine, defence, clean energy, off-highway * Strong knowledge of digital and mixed signal design, EMC, and noise attenuation * Competency in simulation and modelling of power electronics and magnetic systems * Track record leading technical projects and developing customer relationships * Degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant engineering discipline Desirable: * Familiarity with motor control strategies (e.g. FOC, IPM, SPM, SR motors) * Hands-on experience building, testing, and iterating hardware prototypes * Exposure to thermal simulation, fluid cooling, or high-voltage safety practices * Ability to manage PCB layout, enclosure design and product assembly
