Joint Borders Weight Management/Community Dietitian

Specialist Dietitian

Permanent, 35.5 Hours per week

The borders dietetics department is looking for an experienced, motivated and compassionate dietitian to join their service. This is a new post for the safe and effective care of supporting patients within the weight management service (20.5hrs), and within community dietetics (15hrs).

The post holder will be required to act independently to provide a comprehensive specialist service. Service delivery will involve face-to-face and virtual contact in both group and one to one support settings. They will develop and deliver training programmes, alongside clinical triage of referrals and service development. They will be involved in the supervision of dietitians, students, dietetic support workers and our project support officer.

This post will be based at the Borders General Hospital but will include travel throughout the borders in order to deliver service needs, a driving licence is essential.

As from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.

Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check done than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a "regulated role", your appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
