At Plumpton College, we have recently embarked on an exciting £11m Agri-Food investment programme and are looking to recruit enthusiastic and inspiring lecturers to join our highly successful Agri-Food and Environment division.

This role requires an excellent lecturer to deliver effective teaching, learning, assessment, and support to our agriculture students, helping them maximize their potential and succeed. You will inspire and motivate students and contribute significantly to our programs.

Plumpton College is a leading provider of land and environmental education in the UK, located in the South Downs National Park. We offer a wide range of courses from level 1 to Masters across nineteen subject areas, including agriculture, animal management, veterinary sciences, horticulture, equine studies, wine, and environmental studies.

Job Purpose

To deliver effective teaching, learning, assessment, and support to students, enabling them to maximize their potential and succeed in their future careers or studies. To inspire and motivate students and contribute to the growth and development of our programs.

Duties and responsibilities of the job

1. Teaching, Learning, and Assessment

* Plan, prepare, teach, assess, report, and monitor lessons to ensure high standards, sharing good practice and celebrating successes.
* Conduct initial assessments, adapt teaching accordingly, and monitor student progress.
* Create opportunities for students to develop English and maths skills.
* Ensure high attendance and prompt register completion.
* Prepare schemes of work and lesson plans following college processes.
* Utilize modern technology to enhance learning, e.g., PoL, specialist software, VLE standards.
* Develop assessment plans, set exams and homework, and provide feedback to support progress.
* Mark coursework and provide constructive feedback in line with awarding organization requirements.
* Track individual student progress and take action to support improvement.

2. Tutoring

* Create and share student profiles based on initial assessments.
* Work as a personal tutor, engage with student services, participate in interviews, and deliver induction activities.
* Conduct tutorials, review targets, and record progress.
* Support students' personal, employment, and study skills development, including careers guidance.
* Use data systems to plan and support student progress.
* Prepare reports, contribute to parents' evenings, and provide progress updates to employers.

3. Quality Improvement

* Participate in team meetings, share good practice, and plan improvements.
* Gather and act on student feedback, ensure standards, and engage with quality systems.
* Contribute to program reviews and development, support external quality processes.

4. Continuous Professional Development

* Engage in staff development, maintain a PDP, and participate in appraisals.
* Complete mandatory training.

5. Other duties

* Participate in recruitment, promotional events, and work with stakeholders.
* Support the college's strategic plan and ensure equality and safeguarding policies are followed.
