A day in the role
Due to the varied nature of the role, there is no typical day. You will work on VAT compliance and advisory, providing tax support to front and back-office functions. Additionally, you will mentor junior colleagues.
Responsibilities of the role
Core
* Preparation and review of Partial Exemption Special Method and VAT returns
* Providing tax advisory support to the business
* Liaising with HMRC and responding to queries
Additional with experience
* Supporting corporate tax functions: preparing UK corporate tax computations, filing returns, producing disclosures, and resolving tax queries with external auditors
* Reviewing the Corporation Tax return
* Supporting the Bank's US Qualified Intermediary Programme submissions
Candidate capabilities
Minimum criteria
* Chartered Accountant or Chartered Tax Advisor (UK)
* Experience in UK banking tax, especially VAT
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and numeracy skills
Other skills
* Attention to detail, organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and work under pressure
* Strong interpersonal skills and relationship-building
* Self-motivated, resourceful, team player, adaptable to change
* Experience with Alpha tax software
