The North York Moors National Park Authority helps to care for one of the UK’s most distinctive protected landscapes.
We are now looking for a Programme Assistant to join our Farming in Protected Landscapes (FiPL) programme on a full-time basis, working 37 hours per week for a fixed-term contract until 31st March 2029.
The Defra funded FiPL Programme is running in all the English National Parks and National Landscapes to help farmers and other land managers adapt to future changes in agricultural support.

The Role
As a Programme Assistant, you will support the delivery of our Farming in Protected Landscapes (FiPL) programme.
Acting as a first point of contact for potential applicants, you will provide advice and guidance on conservation, land management and access, helping support high-quality grant applications and the successful delivery of funded projects.
You will also assess and monitor projects, ensuring funded activity aligns with programme requirements, conservation objectives and the wider aims of the North York Moors National Park Management Plan.
Additionally, you will:
* Support the FiPL Local Assessment Panel with reports and recommendations
* Manage compliance with programme agreements and conditions
* Ensure all activities comply with health and safety and Equalities policies and procedures
About You
To be considered as a Programme Assistant, you will need:
* Experience directly related to the duties of the role
* Experience working with farmers and land managers to achieve conservation objectives
* Practical experience of farmland habitats, with experience in upland hill farming being an advantage
* Experience of project and budget management
* Experience using IT packages such as Excel, Word, Teams and GIS
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle
