a wide range of industry sectors. We are recruiting a Customs Administrator, based in Bury,
UK.

Job Description

Job Purpose
To coordinate and create special requirement paperwork for international shipments,
including key accounts, as well as taking ownership of the packing of special requirement
shipments. To deal with dangerous goods paperwork. To provide administration assistance for the Despatch team. To monitor the Despatch inbox and provide prompt replies to other teams (onsite Monday - Friday).

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

1. To monitor the Special Requirements Despatch Outlook inbox, action or assign the emails and ensure prompt responses
2. To liaise with the Customer Services team to understand and agree despatch paperwork changes for specific customers/distributors (with relevant manager escalation where necessary)
3. To implement agreed paperwork changes from a system point of view
4. To ensure that the Special Requirements database is kept up-to-date
5. To focus on the packing of special requirement shipments to ensure that all requirements are included
6. To scan in the special requirements paperwork as soon as possible after the despatch of the samples and the relevant parties informed
7. To provide on-going analysis to streamline the international paperwork process and generate innovative solutions
8. To coordinate the tracking of requirements by customer, country, scheme to ensure compliance and to identify opportunities for improvement
9. To understand and coordinate the robotic automation processes (where required)
10. To produce despatch schedules
11. To provide training to relevant staff members on best practice
12. Attend courses to acquire and maintain dangerous goods qualification
13. Prepare and print dangerous goods paperwork to ensure that LGC Bury is compliant with either IATA and/or ADR shipping regulations
14. To produce manual air waybills
15. To place purchase requisitions for items needed for the Despatch Department
16. Organise the collection and delivery of goods via international and national carriers,including third party collections
17. To arrange ad-hoc collections of raw material and pallets, etc
18. Perform the duties of other staff in their absence and assist other staff when necessary
19. To ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with defined company procedures and statutory requirements, such as the Health and Safety at Work Act, COSHH, et
20. Carry out any additional duties or tasks as directed that are commensurate with the role and position

Person Specification

21. A general good level of secondary education or relevant experience. A background in despatch administration / coordination
22. Trained in IATA regulations (preferable but not essential)
23. Experience working with different document types, paperwork and invoices
24. Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills
25. Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
26. Good organisational skills, ability to prioritise and work under pressure to meet deadlines
27. Excellent command of English, written and oral
28. Methodical and precise approach
29. Good communication skills
30. Excellent key board skills
31. Proven ability to work to and achieve set deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.

Qualifications

32. A minimum of four 'GCSE' passes.
33. Relevant previous work experience, preferably in a despatch/warehouse environment.
34. Excellent command of English, written and oral.
35. Good telephone manner.
36. Excellent key board skills.
37. Proven ability to work to and achieve set deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.
