We are looking for an Activities Coordinator who can plan and deliver stimulating activities to our residents, to support their wellbeing and engagement to fulfil their emotional, intellectual, spiritual and physical wellbeing needs.
This position is part time (20 hours per week) to cover maternity leave initially, with potential to become permanent.
Being an Activity Coordinator is a unique and important role within our home, and kindness, patience and compassion will be essential, along with the ability to understand and follow procedure. You will need to have good communication skills as well as strong organisational and time management skills. With the ability to bring your creative ideas to the role, you will coordinate the provision of activities and entertainment for our residents, taking into account their personal preferences.
Key tasks for the role include:
* Help residents to socialise within the home and provide a variety of activities that cater for all preferences;
* Plan and initiate monthly rolling programmes of activities/entertainment, including maintaining pre-existing hobbies for residents where appropriate;
* To provide comfort and company on a one-to-one basis for residents that are unable to undertake any form of activity;
* Arrange outings/visits with residents, where appropriate as well as arranging visiting performers;
* Organise events within the home throughout the year, such as summer and Christmas Fayres, coffee mornings and other activities where staff, friends and family can also come and take part;
* Maintain full and accurate records of daily activities and interactions using the electronic system and any other documentation as appropriate, keeping senior staff / named nurses informed.
Working within a nursing home means there can be sad moments as you support some residents in the final chapters of their life, but there are also lots of opportunities to enjoy positive moments with residents and the team too. Most importantly, our staff team are committed to making everyone feel safe, secure and comfortable around the home.
All new staff at Stewton House are subject to a minimum of 12-week probation period. During this time an introduction programme will be completed, including mandatory training, supervision support and competency checks. Ongoing support, appraisals and supervisions are provided for all staff thereafter.
