Funded by BBC Children in Need, the Youth Engagement Officer plays a key role in ensuring The Playhouse’s youth engagement activities promote inclusion, equity, and creative innovation, empowering young people through the Open Arts Pathway.
The role involves coordinating youth programmes of various scales and complexities both off-site and within our historic building. The Youth Engagement Officer will primarily work on the Choice & Voice project, conducting theatre, music, and movement sessions for children aged 8-12 years.
We seek someone passionate about nurturing diverse young people's creativity and enhancing their performance arts experiences. The ideal candidate will be learner-focused, emotionally intelligent, empathetic, highly organized, collaborative, and a strong team player. Familiarity with systems supporting delivery, best practices, and legislation such as Child Protection, Health & Safety, GDPR, and Safeguarding is essential.
The Youth Engagement Officer will report to the Producer and be a vital part of the Producing Team led by the Creative Director at The Playhouse.
This role covers a broad scope, including performing arts, access and inclusion, and working with young people from diverse backgrounds. We welcome applicants with relevant skills, a willingness to learn, and a passion for the position.
The position is a 2-year, fixed-term, full-time contract.
