What will this role achieve?
We have an exciting opportunity for an individual with prior knowledge of food ingredients materials. This role has primary focus on lipids (fats, oils, emulsifiers and related).
This role offers opportunities to develop, build and apply efficient ingredients solutions to products and manufacturing projects.
1. Work independently within the lipids ingredients category applying knowledge and experience.
2. Lead and deliver projects and insights in the R&D program.
3. Model and gain application knowledge of lipids across pladis product portfolio.
4. Develop strategies & roadmaps for R&D programmes.
5. Lead longer term thinking and new insights to foster the innovation funnel.
6. Work with people from a variety of teams, gaining exposure across the whole pladis FMCG supply chain.
7. Challenge yourself to resolve difficult problems and define a long-term lipid technical roadmap.
Leadership of the Lipids Category and Technical Strategy
8. Leads the lipids ingredients technical program for UK&I (+ years) and ensure alignment to deliver the innovation pipeline and future ingredients solutions.
9. Setting the strategic technical agenda for the R&D UK&I over the next years.
10. Develop lipids ingredients toolboxes to support growth innovation agenda.
11. Proactively support long term ingredients efficiency opportunities for UK&I on the lipids' category.
12. Working in partnership with other pladis functions procurement, supply chain and SQSE to ensure top performance on the lipids' category.
13. Build strong internal network with regional and global pladis partners.
14. Build relevant supplier and external capabilities' network to support ignite and secure an agile delivery of the strategic agenda.
What will be your key results?
15. Be responsible for the long-term technical agenda in the lipids' category within pladis UK&I acting as the key point of contact and driving resolution of issues through in-depth technical knowledge.
16. Identify capability gaps and drive leadership within this category to ensure business dedication at the front end of the innovation pipeline.
17. Share and disseminate technical knowledge in the R&D community to ensure dedication across the wider team.
18. Develop and handle partnerships with key external partners – suppliers, research institutes, others - to ensure the best possible delivery of the growth agenda.
19. Own, develop, and deliver relevant Lipids Technical Roadmaps
20. Work collaboratively with the wider community to deliver ingredient toolboxes to support development in business-critical areas.
21. Proficient and effective communication with key partners, internally and externally.
What do you need for this role?
Crucial
22. Educated to PhD or MSc level, with proven experience, in a relevant Science subject area – Food Science, Bioscience, Food Materials, Biology, Chemistry or similar.
23. Validated work experience in Food Manufacturing Departments with some experience of project management
24. Experience of food materials and manufacturing systems applicable to pladis product range
25. Strong technical background, analytical techniques, and processing methodology knowledge
26. Familiarity with the Global regulatory landscape and food and safety legislation.
27. Knowledge of basic project management techniques and validated experience of supporting effective delivery against critical metrics
28. Positive demeanor and willingness to get involved in new projects.

30. Experience working with suppliers and external partners.
Desirable
31. Expertise in the field of baking technology
32. Experience within food manufacturing environment, food formulation, raw material specs, food sensory evaluation.
