Special Needs Teaching Assistant Location: York, North Yorkshire Salary: £85 - £110 per day Start Date: ASAP GSL Education are seeking compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to work at our Client Secondary school for young people with additional needs in York, North Yorkshire, starting as soon as possible. About the School: With an emphasis on SEN children, this school is for secondary aged students, aged from years which aims to provide SEN students and staff with exceptional standards of care and education. Every student at the School has a learning disability, and some of them also require extra special education services due to physical or sensory needs. The school provides its students with a customized, individualized curriculum that is in line with their needs and goals and closely related to the outcomes listed in each child's Education, Health, and Care Plan. The school's comprehensive curriculum provides teachers with a list of options of accessible and relevant topics to help students develop what is relevant to them and their identified EHCP broad areas of need. The curriculums at the school have been created after four years of intensive research into SEND as well as visits, research, and interactions with exceptional settings. One of the main goals of the school is to prepare students for adulthood. Special Needs Teaching Assistant Responsibilities: Under the expert guidance and supervision of teacher, conduct learning activities differentiating and tailoring curriculum to meet the needs of assigned students with special needs. Create and assess specialised learning activities. Encourage students to collaborate and communicate with one another. Participate in creating, organising, and carrying out students' individual development plans. As students are learning, keep an eye on their behaviour and conduct and take action to address any complex, hard, or challenging issues. Special Needs Teaching Assistant Requirements: Must hold the Right to Work in the UK. Relevant qualifications in education or SEN support (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification). Training in behavior management and de-escalation techniques is desirable. Experience working with children who have a variety of disabilities and/or learning difficulties, or an eagerness to go through training. Be aware of and knowledgeable about different additional needs such as ASC, ADHD, MLD and SEMH. Confident in the delivery of pre-planned lessons and interventions. Hold a Child only DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
