Do you have a passion for Animal Care? Are you excited by the prospect of teaching and working within a busy Animal Rescue Centre that provides unique learning experiences to our students? Have you always dreamed of living and working within an area of natural beauty and vibrant culture?

We seek a highly competent and confident Lecturer to deliver outstanding teaching and learning on Animal Management courses from Levels 1 to 5. We offer unique Animal Care facilities to our students and staff, especially our rescue centre and close links with the RSPCA, providing our staff with an exciting and varied workplace.

The successful candidates will themselves be educated to at least a degree level and capable of sharing their knowledge with our students in an engaging and informative manner that befits their passion for the subject. Teaching experience is desirable, but we are looking for someone with the confidence to share their experience and knowledge with our students - we would provide support for gaining a formal teaching qualification alongside your work with us. Veterinary experience is also desirable and beneficial when working with the wildlife cases we receive.

They will have excellent organisational and time-management skills and can prioritise work effectively to meet objectives and deadlines. They will be comfortable with and proactively adapt to rapid changes in educational trends within the sector. They will be able to plan and prioritise their work schedule to achieve objectives, have strong IT skills and be happy to be part of a close-knit team with shared goals.

Teaching experience is desirable, but we seek someone confident in sharing their expertise and knowledge with our students. We would support you in gaining a formal teaching qualification alongside your work with us.

Job Overview

5. Teaching: Deliver engaging and effective lessons across a variety of curriculum disciplines.
6. Curriculum Development: Lead the development of specific subjects within the curriculum, ensuring content is current and industry-relevant.
7. Research & Consultancy: Engage in significant research and consultancy activities to enhance the academic and practical learning experience.
8. Course Verification & Leadership: Oversee course verification processes, coordinate course teams, and provide leadership to ensure high education standards.
9. Impactful Role: Play a crucial role in shaping the future of the related industry by mentoring and educating the next generation of skilled professionals.
10. Classroom Management: To ensure student retention and achievement targets are met, provide a safe and healthy environment in which to work and learn, and ensure that adequate resources and materials are provided to enhance learning, thereby enriching the opportunity and experience of learners.

What we're looking for

Qualifications

Essential Desirable A recognised teaching qualification or be willing to obtain within 2 years of appointment Assessor Award or be willing to obtain within 2 years A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline Level 2 English and Maths (GCSE A* to C or equivalent)

Experience

Essential Desirable Experience of working with domestic or wild animals and in communicating this to others Recent experience of teaching in an FE/HE environment Veterinary experience

Knowledge & Skills

Essential Desirable Effective communication and presentation skills Capable use of IT to promote teaching and monitor learning Effective use of ILT to promote teaching and learning and monitor learning Good general knowledge of health and safety at work in an educational or relevant vocational environment Ability to provide high quality pastoral care to learners Effective classroom management skills Practical experience highly valued
