pixlbio is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as a Laboratory Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for producing cell culture media and supporting stock management across the laboratory. This position is an excellent entry point for a recent graduate or for someone returning to a laboratory career after a break.

About You
You have a strong interest in laboratory science and enjoy hands-on work. With a good grasp of laboratory maths (volumes, ratios, dilutions), you can confidently prepare media and reagents. You are detail-oriented, organised, and eager to learn new techniques. Some experience with mammalian cell culture will be important, and familiarity with iPSC systems will be a bonus — but just as crucial is your motivation, reliability, and willingness to grow with the role.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare stocks of tissue culture media and other reagents to support scientific teams.
* Carry out media changes on cell cultures.
* Run basic cell-based and molecular biology assays.
* Support Quality Control (QC) by collecting and processing samples as required.
* Monitor and manage laboratory stocks, ordering replacements as needed.
* Audit reagents to ensure they are in date; safely dispose of expired materials.
* Assist with calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
* Contribute to general housekeeping and cleaning within the lab.
* Accurately record experimental data in lab notebooks, spreadsheets, and systems (e.g., ODOO).
* Report issues promptly to project or line managers.
* Follow all Health and Safety guidelines.
* Provide occasional support with logistics, purchasing, and shipments.
Qualifications and Experience
* Education
: BSc (or equivalent) in Life Sciences or a related discipline (Essential).
* Cell Culture Skills
: Experience with mammalian tissue culture (Essential); previous exposure to iPSCs is desirable.
* Scientific Knowledge
: Understanding of basic human cell biology and laboratory calculations (e.g., dilutions, volumes, ratios).
* Organisation & Communication
: Strong attention to detail, excellent record-keeping, and ability to meet deadlines.
* Teamwork & Independence
: Able to work effectively within a team as well as independently when needed.
* Adaptability
: Willingness to learn new techniques and contribute across different areas of the laboratory.
