Role Summary
The ideal Senior Copywriter candidate is looking to take their next career step and is unafraid to roll up their sleeves and collaborate with medical writers and other cross-functional colleagues to develop scientifically accurate creative content across multiple customer channel engagements. The Senior Copywriter strives to elevate a medical brand story while delivering messaging that motivates targeted HCPs to advance patient care. This person is a seasoned professional with the ability to lead workstreams and junior creative teams in driving client brand strategy to the next level.
Role Responsibilities
These are the essential functions crucial to successful performance.
* Provide tone, style, structure, and voice for all content based on scientific brand strategy, creative brief, and cross-functional team input. Adapt writing approach, tone, and voice to reach different clients, brands, and audiences.
* Write for one or more brands, working closely with medical to ensure clinical accuracy while staying true to the brand voice.
* Write clear, concise, accurate, and well-organized copy appropriate to the relevant format and/or channel (print, digital, online, social).
* Handle short- and long-form copy development for both HCP and patient audiences; prepare copy for review with creative lead, medical, and account teams.
* Actively participate in discovery, customer strategy sessions, Big Idea generation, and client meetings; help shape all content development.
* Actively participate in shaping the creative strategy by demonstrating strong conceptual abilities and offering unique solutions to challenges.
* Present highly regulated, scientifically oriented creative work to clients (medical and regulatory reviewers with oversight) and to internal teams (creative, medical, and account).
* Integrate conceptual creative approach with client medical and legal requirements; contribute and execute strategic and tactical advertising/communications concepts addressing business challenges.
* Collaborate with an art-side partner (e.g., Senior Art Directors) as necessary.
* Work with medical writers, client services, and editors to ensure work is on target, on strategy, and on deadline.
* Manage multiple projects and brands; communicate workload and timing to copy lead and project manager to mitigate deadline risks.
* Contribute to a culture of collaboration and creativity within the team and the wider agency.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor\\u2019s degree in advertising, communications, journalism, or similar creative writing program
* 3-5 years of professional writing experience and creative leadership in an advertising or digital agency; pharma or health/wellness/healthcare writing experience is required
* Strong experience with large cross-channel and/or direct marketing brand initiatives, including rich media, web, direct, and print; experience with online and social media is a plus
* Solid portfolio of campaign material (conceptual through completion) representing individual writing across multiple channels and platforms
* Portfolio demonstrates strategic solutions to client problems with thinking across a broad range of tactics, including short- and long-form writing
* Experience leading and supporting a creative team (art and copy) on brand strategy and deliverables; may oversee team members on assigned projects
* Deep experience in pharmaceutical writing from a strategic (brand and scientific research) foundation
* Ability to create written materials from concept through execution across multiple platforms (digital and traditional)
