The Emergency Department is a friendly, exciting place to work currently undergoing a large transformational project with exciting new developments and opportunities. We are looking for Receptionists to work on our friendly reception desks in the Emergency Department. The successful candidates will undertake a variety of reception duties including working on our A&E, SDEC, AMU and Guildford Ward Reception and processing Patient data. You will also act as a focal point of communication between Patients, Ambulance Crews and Medical / Clinical staff. The successful candidates will have a friendly and professional attitude, good IT and organisational skills and be able to accurately complete / input data. The successful candidate will also need to be able to deal with difficult and stressful situations with courtesy and empathy. The Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year, including bank holidays. You will be rostered to work a range of shift patterns which include days, evenings, nights and weekends. This will be planned 6 weeks in advance. Shifts will be allocated 6 weeks in advance. Including: • Receive and register all patients onto the patient information database (CERNER) • Patient care • Attending to Ambulance Crews • Filing • Tracking of Patient pathway • Admit and discharge patients to other areas within the Emergency Department (AEC) • Booking patient follow-up appointments liaising with other departments if necessary • Assist with the management of Patient records (CAS cards and medical notes) – filing and retrieval of cards when required • Telephone enquiries
