Maintenance Engineer – Mechanical & Electrical (Food Industry)
Near Tipton | £40,000–£52,000 DOE | 6am–2pm Permanent Shift
We’re looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our close-knit team supporting a busy food production facility.
This is a hands-on, multi-skilled role requiring both mechanical and electrical expertise, ideal for someone proactive, team-focused, and ready to make a real impact.
About the Team
You’ll be part of a small, skilled maintenance team (3 Engineers + 1 Facilities Engineer), supporting production through preventative and reactive maintenance. We pride ourselves on a positive team culture, so being the right fit is just as important as technical skills.
What You’ll Do
* Maintain and repair conveyor systems, pumps, screw conveyors, motors, and drives
* Troubleshoot PLC faults, panel work, electrical diagnostics, and VSDs
* Support thermal fluid boiler systems and heat transfer equipment
* Follow PPM schedules and log tasks via CMMS
* Minimise downtime through effective problem-solving and root cause analysis
* Ensure hygiene, safety, and compliance in a food-grade environment
* Collaborate with production and engineering colleagues on daily challenges
* Be part of a 1-evening-per-week call-out rota (6pm–6am, paid min. 3 hours)
Working Hours & Flexibility
* Permanent Morning Shift: 6am – 2pm
* No regular overtime (TOIL available for any extra hours)
* Call-out rota 1 evening per week; 1–2 callouts/month on average
* Time off the following day if called out overnight
* Must be available to work during key shutdowns:
?What We’re Looking For
* 10+ years’ experience in a similar maintenance role (food industry preferred)
* Strong skills in both mechanical and electrical maintenance
* Hands-on experience with:
o Motors, drives, conveyors, pumps
o PLC fault-finding, VSDs, wiring & panels
o Thermal systems (boilers, heat transfer)
* Confident with CMMS, PPM, and stock/spares management
* Team player with a positive, can-do attitude
* Comfortable in a fast-paced, regulated environment
* Willing to meet the team as part of the recruitment process
Salary & Benefits
