Description Are you a proactive, detail-driven Finance Officer? The Scottish Government Legal Directorate (SGLD) is a Directorate within DG Corporate and is led by Director and Solicitor to the Scottish Government, Ruaraidh Macniven, who is also Head of the Government Legal Service for Scotland (GLSS). SGLD is the largest of the offices which form the GLSS and consists of eleven divisions, one of which is the Business Division. The finance team is in the Business Division, which is responsible for corporate governance, directorate strategy and delivery of a range of support services. It comprises the following branches: SLIC; Scottish Statutory Instrument Unit; Finance team, Outsourcing, Learning and Development, the Legal Modernisation Unit and the Resourcing/Senior Management support team. As Finance Officer, you will provide high-quality financial support, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and insight across a range of finance activities. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders, providing clear analysis, budget management, and helping to deliver critical financial processes in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Situated within SGLD Business Division, the SGLD Finance team play a crucial role in delivering financial insight, supporting decision-making, and driving performance across the organisation. Responsibilities Monitor income and expenditure accounts. Perform monthly reconciliation. Manage administrative outgoing accounts. Process payments for legal billing. Support the development and maintenance of the framework for outsourced legal work Contribute to the wider work of the Finance Unit. Feed into FOI requests. Issue and action journals and invoices as part of the reconciliation.
