Job Description
If you are passionate about building trust and confidence in the UK's markets and for public policy, UKAS is seeking a dynamic Nations and Regions Manager to spearhead our engagement and policy activities. This role has a strong focus on Scotland and also covers Wales, Northern Ireland and the devolved areas of England.
This is your chance to play a pivotal role in delivering UKAS's External Affairs strategy by building effective partnerships with governments, policymakers and stakeholders across the UK nations and regions.
As part of UKAS's small, busy and committed External Affairs team, you will be tasked with:
* Taking the lead in further growing UKAS's presence in Scotland and establishing UKAS as a trusted partner to the Scottish Government.
* Implementing and maintaining a strategic plan to boost awareness of the value of accreditation.
* Identifying public policy initiatives where accreditation can add value and ensuring it is considered in relevant schemes and initiatives.
* Establishing and growing UKAS's presence in the Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish parliaments.
* Monitoring political and policy developments, crafting insightful positions and identifying opportunities to strengthen UKAS's influence.
* Organising impactful meetings, roundtables and events to showcase UKAS, accreditation and the importance of quality infrastructure.
What We're Looking For:
* Strong knowledge of Scottish politics and government, with existing contacts.
* Experience working with Scottish Government or government agencies.
* A solid understanding of political, economic, societal and technological trends in Scotland and also the other nations and regions of the UK.
* A relevant degree or equivalent experience.
* Proven skills in drafting messaging and running engagement campaigns.
* Willingness to travel regularly, including overnight stays. Travel to head office, meetings and events as per business requirements.
This is a full-time, home-based role in Scotland.
