Job overview

Manchester Eating Disorders Service is seeking a dedicated, forward-thinking, and highly organised dietitian to join our dynamic and experienced team on a part-time basis ( WTE/15 hours).

This is a unique opportunity to lead dietetic input alongside our part time band 6 dietitian, and work as part of a multidisciplinary adult community team. You will play a key role in delivering evidence-based dietetic care to adults accessing our service, as well as offering support to their families and carers.

We’re looking for someone who thrives in specialist mental health settings, embraces variety, and can work both independently and as part of a cohesive team. If you're enthusiastic, adaptable, and committed to providing high-quality, timely, and person-centred care, this role is for you.

You will join a dedicated, friendly, and person-centred team with a diverse MDT consisting of:

1. Clinical and Counselling Psychologists
2. Dietitians
3. CBT Therapists
4. Support Worker
5. Mental health Practitioners
6. Specialist doctors

Main duties of the job

As the lead Dietitian for Manchester Eating Disorder Service, you will provide specialist clinical input across a wide-ranging and rewarding caseload.

Key areas include:

7. Providing dietetic assessments, specialist advice, treatment, and dietary counselling for a clients with a range of eating disorders.
8. Development and implementation of highly specialised care plans and risk assessments, adjusting them when required.
9. Provide and maintain support for clients and their loved ones.
10. Provide clinical supervision to junior staff.
11. Utilise expertise to offer support and advice to members of the MDT.

Person specification

Education / Qualifications

Essential criteria

18. Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or degree and post graduate qualification in Dietetics. HCPC registered Dietician Evidence of CPD and Professional Portfolio

Desirable criteria

19. British Dietetic Association Specialist Courses. Advanced Diploma in Dietetic Practice. Completed, currently accessing or willing to undertake master’s level programme. Post graduate training relevant to mental health such as cognitive behavioural counselling, motivational interviewing skills. Clinical supervision skills. Leadership and management training or qualification. Specialist training

Experience

Essential criteria

20. Significant demonstrable post registration experience in various clinical settings and age groups relevant to the post. Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Extensive clinical experience in a range of mental health settings. Participation in service development. Experience of managing/supervising junior team members or a team

Desirable criteria

21. Experience of assessing and managing the nutritional needs of mental health service users, including: dementia, forensic, adolescent, alcohol and drugs and general adults. Collaborative and partnership working. Experience of facilitating health promotion sessions. Developing service user leaflets and training resources. Liaison with catering services. Supervising Dietetic students. Experience of working within a secure setting and with patient group

26. Member of the British Dietetic Association Willingness to work flexibly in accordance with the service needs. Good work attendance rate Computer literacy and competence Ability to manage own workload, determine priorities and proactively respond to changing priorities Some travel across the Trust may be required.

Desirable criteria

27. Innovative and self-directing

The Trust mandates all post holders who require a DBS for their role to subscribe to the DBS Update Service. You will be required to enrol for this service for a fee of £16 per year and maintain registration throughout your employment with GMMH.
