- Bank
Do you have a background in fashion design, textiles, or the garment industry and a desire to inspire the next generation of creative talent?
Brighton MET College is looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Associate Lecturer to join our Fashion and Textiles team on a bank basis, delivering Fashion and Textiles at Level 3 to a motivated cohort of students at the threshold of their creative careers.
You will play a key role in shaping a positive and ambitious studio culture - offering individual guidance, delivering formative and summative assessments, and contributing to the ongoing development of the curriculum. Your industry experience and professional networks will be invaluable in bringing real-world context into the classroom and creating meaningful opportunities for students.
In this role you will plan and deliver engaging, industry-informed teaching across core units including fashion design, ideas generation, garment construction, textiles techniques, and creative development. You will support students to build strong technical skills alongside a confident design aesthetic, preparing them for progression to higher education or employment within the fashion and creative industries.
Essential Criteria Requirements:
1. A degree or higher-level qualification (or equivalent professional experience) in Fashion Design, Textiles, Fashion Technology, or a closely related discipline.
2. Demonstrable experience within the fashion or textiles industry - for example in design, garment construction, pattern cutting, print, knitwear, or a related specialism.
3. Technical skills in at least one core area of fashion or textiles practice, with the ability to teach and demonstrate these to students.
4. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people at all levels, verbally and in writing.
