Pharmacy Technician


Woodland Hospital, Kettering


Full-time, 37.5 hours


We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician/ACT to join the expanding pharmacy team at Woodland Hospital based in Kettering.

As a key member of the department, you will support the Pharmacy Manager and the team in the provision of all pharmacy services, including, but not limited to, ordering, stock control and preparation of drugs and medicines. You will be involved in staff development and training throughout the hospital, as well as supporting the team make decisions and introduce innovative and streamlined processes. You will be working with a friendly and committed group of colleagues who consistently achieve the best outcomes for our patients and who are always looking to improve and develop.

The Woodland Hospital has four Theatres, Day case and inpatient wards, MRI scanner and consulting rooms. The hospital offers a wide variety of specialities and prides itself on providing a high standard of care to both patients and staff. The pharmacy department at Woodlands also supports the provision of medication at nearby Glendon Hospital, which specialises in eye surgery and endoscopy.


Key responsibilities include

* Ensuring accurate and legal dispensing and issue of prescriptions for inpatients and outpatients as specified in Ramsay Health Care Policies and Procedures

* Undertaking duties in relation to the manufacture of pharmacy goods

* Supporting the pharmacist to ensure that Inpatient Prescription Record Charts are checked regularly to ensure treatment is appropriate, both clinically and financially and that the patient has sufficient supplies

* Providing advice to patients/carers and clinical staff on pharmaceutical products

* Supervising, training and coaching new staff if applicable

* Ensuring that the agreed standards of patient care and confidentiality are maintained in accordance with Ramsay policies

* Adhering to GPhC standards of conduct, ethics and performance

* To take part in weekend and bank holiday rotas on a rotation basis

What you'll bring with you

* NVQ3, BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent level

* Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)

* At least 4 GCSEs (A-C), including English, Maths and Science or equivalent qualifications

* Sound written and verbal communication skills

* Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required

* Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the business

* Demonstrated Customer Service skills

* Demonstrated Computer Skills

* It would also be desirable, but not essential, for the applicant to have experience working in a hospital environment
