About the service

The NIV/Sleep Service is the largest domiciliary service in the South East, outside of London. It has a caseload of over 600 patients receiving NIV therapy and supports the sleep service with new patient assessments, seeing up to 50 new patients a week who have a new diagnosis of sleep-disordered breathing. The Sleep service overall has over 8,000 patients in receipt of CPAP therapy. Our team consists of Advanced/Enhanced Practitioners, Sleep and Respiratory Physiologists, Associate Practitioners/Physiologists and admin. We provide a service to QEQM, Buckland Hospital - Dover, Royal Victoria Hospital - Folkestone and Kent and Canterbury Hospital. We consider ourselves an inclusive service that welcomes staff from a variety of healthcare backgrounds, including nursing, AHP and Physiology, which provides a varied skill set within the team. We work closely with the Respiratory Consultants, the Consultant Respiratory Nurse, the inpatient practitioners and physiology teams within the trust. We also have an excellent relationship with our Community Respiratory Team colleagues (KCHFT), ensuring our respiratory patient’s pathway is as smooth and streamlined as possible. We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with five hospitals and community clinics serving a local population of around 800,000 people. Our vision is 'great healthcare from great people'. Everything we do is guided by our values: 'People feel cared for, safe, respected and confident that we are making a difference'. We have a new way of working at East Kent Hospitals, called 'We care'. It is about empowering frontline staff to lead improvements day-to-day. We are looking for compassionate people to be part of our improvement journey for the patients, families and carers we care for every day.
