Job summary
This opportunity gives newly qualified as well as more experienced speech and language therapists a great introduction to the broad range of NHS clinical services. Working with children and families to provide a Speech & Language Therapy into the community locations where children live and attend school. Following successful completion of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) NQP Competency Framework, you will work as an autonomous practitioner, in partnership with parents, school staff, and children, and in liaison with other healthcare staff, to deliver integrated specialised packages of care to children with a broad range of speech, language communication and feeding difficulties. Clinical supervision from other members of the team will be available to discuss cases and share ideas. You will also gain experience in order to train students, other healthcare professionals and staff from other agencies who work with children with speech and language difficulties, initially with support from an experienced colleague. Main duties of the job
To work in a variety of settings including schools, nursery's, homes and clinics to deliver high quality speech and language therapy assessment and therapeutic interventions.
To consult with colleagues in education. and to involve parents/ carers at every stage of the child or young persons care.
Work with colleagues and other healthcare professionals in developing and providing an effective and efficient service to children and their families.
To support others to understand the speech, language and communication needs of children and to provide interventions, recommendations and advice which follows an evidence base to improve children and young peoples outcomes.
To contribute to the Education Health Care Planning process as needed in consultation with parents, carers and young people.
To promote co production in the development of the service, in creating person centred care plans and in delivering high quality care.

We have been working with other local NHS Trusts to create a new organisation, bringing together all community, mental health and learning disability services from across Hampshire and Isle of Wight. Subject to approvals, the aim is for the new Trust to be formed by July 2024.Project Fusion is the name for the programme to create the new combined NHS Foundation Trust. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust will be bringing the services into a single organisation will result in more consistent care, more equitable access to services irrespective of postcode, and a more sustainable workforce and services. Qualifications

1. Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent
2. A valid up to date RCSLT registration
3. A valid up to date HCPC Licence to Practice

4. Post-graduate dysphagia qualification

5. Experience of a range of paediatric speech and language disorders and delay
6. Excellent interpersonal skills -- including observation, listening and empathy skills
7. Highly developed non-verbal communication skills
8. Highly developed analytical and reflection skills
9. Good auditory discrimination skills and an ability to transcribe speech phonetically
10. Highly developed auditory and perceptual skills
11. Ability to maintain intense concentration for prolonged periods, simultaneously analysing auditory, visual and kinaesthetic aspects of a child's communication as required on a daily basis as an integral part of assessment and treatment
