Early Years Manager - May - Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire
Hours: 08:00-18:00, Monday - Friday. (Total hours will not exceed 47.5 hours per week)
Salary: £580.24 - £718.65 per week, depending on age, experience, qualifications, and camp size
(Contracts for February Half Term will be issued at the 2023 wage level. The 2024 wage level will be effective from 1st April.)
Reportable to: Camp Manager, Area Manager, and Central Office

EARLY YEARS MANAGER DUTIES
1. Support and deliver induction training and oversee setup days before camp starts.
2. Complete paperwork and conduct high-risk activities following Barracudas Activity Codes of Practice.
3. Enforce health and safety regulations to maintain a safe environment.
4. Ensure the Early Years Foundation Stage is implemented through planning Explore and Play sessions.
5. Designated Person (DP) for Safeguarding, handling child protection and safeguarding issues.
6. Communicate regularly with Area Managers and Central Office.
7. Observe and participate in high-risk activities with staff and children.
8. Check staff understanding of safeguarding procedures regularly.
9. Serve as the main contact for OFSTED inspectors during camp.
10. Communicate with parents, handle administrative tasks, and manage staff.
11. Maintain cleanliness of site and baserooms, and ensure equipment is packed away.
12. Assess and review staff performance at the end of the season.
13. Support staff during sessions as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
1. Attend compulsory senior training events.
2. Hold early years qualifications (e.g., CACHE L3, PGCE, BA Primary Education).
3. Have experience working in a childcare setting.
4. Be eligible to work in the UK.
5. Obtain an enhanced DBS check or have an existing one on the Update Service.
6. Provide satisfactory references.
7. Attend and deliver induction training before camp opens.
8. Complete online training annually.
9. Coordinate camp pack-up at the end of the season.
10. Ensure at least half of the senior staff are Paediatric First Aid trained, depending on camp size.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Follow health and safety procedures diligently.
2. Proactively address safety issues.
3. Prepare for induction training using relevant manuals.
4. Evaluate staff at the end of their contracts.
5. Report child protection concerns to Central Office.
6. Be aware of and support children with additional needs, medical or dietary.
7. Administer medication correctly and document appropriately.
8. Bring swimwear daily for swimming sessions as needed.
9. Perform other duties as required by the organization and business needs.
