Castle Point Borough Council is seeking an experienced Capital Projects and Project Management Surveyor? to join our Estates team within the Commercial & Assets Directorate. This is a key role in delivering capital projects and managing the Council’s commercial and community assets (non-housing).
We are looking for someone who can:
* Lead on a wide range of projects from minor refurbishments to major capital investment schemes
* Provide expert advice on building fabric, infrastructure, and strategic investment decisions
* Conduct detailed building surveys and condition assessments
* Prepare specifications, tenders, and cost estimates
* Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and relevant legislation
* Build strong relationships with stakeholders and contractors to deliver projects on time and within budget
Key Skills and Abilities:
* Strong project management experience with ability to oversee multiple projects
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills
* Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
* Good IT skills for analytical and management purposes
Essential Experience and Qualifications:
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in building and facilities-related work
* MRICS or equivalent professional qualification
* Knowledge of CDM Regulations, JCT contracts, and building compliance
* Full driving licence and own vehicle
Desirable:
* Experience in the public sector or local authority environment
* Knowledge of health and safety regulations within construction
* Familiarity with Essex area and community ethos
