Senior Commissioning Engineer

What you will be doing

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Commissioning Engineer to join the team at Galliford Try within our Environment Business.

* Responsible for the Commissioning delivery of the assigned project portfolio
* Ensuring a full appreciation of the MEICA requirements of the project including a full understanding of the commissioning requirements and interfaces with existing equipment and processes
* Ensuring the development of the Project Commissioning Plan, Commissioning Strategy and Commissioning documentation are completed in a timely manner and meets with the project scope and deliverables, interfaces and constraints are clearly identified. To provide an outline commissioning strategy at outline design stage and developing that philosophy into detailed commissioning plan at completion of design leading into project award. Regular monitoring in the delivery of the commissioning documentation in line with the project delivery requirements. To ensure project MEICA & Commissioning status reporting is provided on a regular basis
* Coordinate sufficient competent resources for projects/programs, working closely with Head of Delivery / Operations Manager(s) and the BU Head of MEICA & Commissioning
* Working with the client Asset Operations Team to ensure full integration with the existing assets are maintained
* Ensure all MEICA installation work meets the technical requirements of the project, including client specifications / Asset Standards and where applicable the Water Industry Mechanical and Electrical Standards (WIMES)
* Ensure that all the latest Galliford Try MEICA & Commissioning processes and procedures are adhered to
* Organise and manage supervision of MEICA installation, Testing and Commissioning
* Engage with specialist support functions including DSEAR, Technical Authors, Document Controllers to ensure early engagement and clear understanding of project needs and deliverables including timescales
* Ensure that the training plan content is delivered in accordance with the programme requirements for the project, including the coordination of suppliers / subcontractors where specialist training is necessary.
* Engaging with the client Asset Integrator to ensure that the project takeover deliverables list is fully agreed and understood - to assist with MEICA & commissioning deliverables associated with completion in a timely manner including if required attendance of review meetings.
* Ensure coordination of MEICA & Commissioning activities with Galliford Try / Subcontract resources to ensure that the project specific requirements and programme are met
* Ensure regular MEICA & Commissioning programme updates are included within the main contract programme in collaboration with the planner, and that regular commissioning meetings are held at the necessary intervals
* Ensure Electrical & Mechanical safety rules are applied and adhered to
* Ensure robust engagement and delivery off & in site testing
* Ensuring MEICA & Commissioning team complete the required paperwork in a timely manner, ensuring all necessary inspection & tests of works incl Supply chain packages
* Carry out Wet Commissioning with the assistance of key delivery partners / supply chain
* Ensuring all paperwork is up to date, and operation and maintenance information from subcontractors is passed onto the document control team.
* Ensure pre-takeover operational requirements are planned, completed and evidenced - to ensure suitable resource is identified
* Ensure all MEICA & Commissioning snags and outstanding works are cleared whilst the relevant contractors are on site


Experience and Qualifications

* Demonstrated experience managing a multi-discipline team, emphasizing customer satisfaction and sustained motivation throughout extended delivery periods.
* Proven knowledge of successfully and safely commissioning complex projects within the water industry in a contracting environment.
* Good financial and commercial awareness, capable of recognizing and detailing the impact of change.
* In-depth working knowledge of water treatment processes, systems, and typical M&E plant/systems/equipment.
* Ability to provide Line Management support to a small-to-medium-sized team, preferably with an industry-recognized qualification, in a shared working environment, focusing on efficient and quality completion.
* Be able to demonstrate the ability in site management and delivery of MEICA / Commissioning and manage the interface with the Client on a regular basis including the prompt resolution of issues affecting project progress
* Be able to demonstrate MEICA & Commissioning delivery though to successful project Takeover
* Have a good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office applications to facilitate the creation and presentation of reports as required.
* Be able to demonstrate an understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment used in the water industry.
* Be able to demonstrate a structured approach to the commissioning of plant, equipment and processes used within the water industry
* Driving licence
* CSCS or ECS card in an appropriate discipline
* EUSR National Water Hygiene Card
* SMSTS (preferred) with SSSTS
* First Aid at Work
* BS7671 Requirements for Electrical Installations - 18th Edition
* City & Guilds Authorised Person Module
* DSEAR awareness CompEx ExF or equivalent
* PROFIBUS Commissioning and Maintenance
