Overview

Join to apply for the Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal role at Vet Record Careers. Salary up to £75,000 DOE, Relocation Allowance up to £5,000 and Welcome Bonus up to £5,000.

Based at Chapelfield Vets in Norwich, we are looking for a passionate Veterinary Surgeon who thrives on variety, enjoys collaboration, and is keen to grow within a friendly and progressive practice.

A Caseload Full of Variety

Based at our modern, well-equipped Norwich branch, you'll work with dogs, cats, and small furries such as rabbits, guinea pigs, rodents, ferrets, and birds. With plans to expand our exotic services, there's plenty of opportunity to develop your own interests. Our facilities include three consulting rooms (with a fourth on the way), two sterile theatres, a dedicated dental suite, digital DR X-ray, Sonoscape Propet 60 ultrasound, and separate cat and dog wards.

Surgery and Medicine in Balance

Your week will typically combine consultations with at least one dedicated surgical day, giving you exposure to a wide range of procedures. These include neutering, dentals, mass removals, laparotomies, orthopaedics, BOAS, and TECA. Most cases are managed in-house, so you'll enjoy continuity of care for your patients and clients. While this role is primarily based in Norwich, there may also be opportunities to work across our wider team if you'd like additional variety.

Expect the Unexpected

What sets Chapelfield apart is the occasional extraordinary case. We support local wildlife, from hedgehogs to deer, and partner with Africa Alive and Banham Zoo. That means every now and then, you might find yourself treating something a little unusual; our most memorable visitor? A vulture!

A Team You\'ll Love Being Part Of

Across our five branches we have 19 small animal vets, including certificate holders in dermatology, ophthalmology, and orthopaedics, with others currently studying imaging and feline medicine. Supporting them are 21 RVNs, four VCAs, and a fantastic reception team. Our nurses run their own consults, including post-op checks, second vaccines, and wellness clinics, and everyone is encouraged to develop their own areas of interest. You\'ll be part of a team that values collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and individual growth.

Flexibility That Works For You

We know life doesn't fit neatly into a rota, so we offer flexible working patterns that adapt to your lifestyle. Whether you're balancing school runs, family commitments, or simply want more time outside of work, we'll work with you to find a pattern that suits. The full-time rota is up to 40 hours across four days with 1:4 Saturday mornings and no OOH. Part-time applications are warmly welcomed.

Life in Norwich

Norwich is a vibrant, historic city full of charm and character. With its stunning Norman cathedral, medieval streets, independent market, arts scene, and green spaces, it offers the perfect mix of heritage and modern living. As England\'s first UNESCO City of Literature, Norwich combines history and culture with all the amenities of a lively, contemporary city.

Benefits and Development

We recognise that our people are fundamental to the success of our business. In addition to a competitive base salary, you will benefit from:

* Work-life balance: 6.6 weeks annual leave, inclusive of bank holidays; additional holiday entitlement for your birthday
* Wellbeing: Private Medical Insurance; Employee Assistance Programme 24/7 confidential helpline; enhanced family-friendly policies; initiatives focused on colleague wellbeing
* Development: £1250 CPD allowance with 40 hours paid CPD leave; certificate support; learning and development opportunities via the IVC Evidensia Academy; access to Vetlexicon; research funding; Care Fund with £1250 per annum for vets
