The post is suited to someone with existing relevant experience in local government Transportation Planning, project management or behaviour change interventions. This is a permanent full-time post If you have a suitable qualification, knowledge and relevant experience; with a keen interest in place making and transport we would like to hear from you. What will be expected from me? You will work across council departments and with key partners such as Active Travel England, West Yorkshire Combined Authority, and Local Authorities across West Yorkshire, focusing on identifying opportunities for improving facilities for, and promotion of, active travel interventions across the district. You will have knowledge and understanding of how the introduction of travel plans contribute to sustainable development, and through planning policy, implementation and monitoring contribute to a sustainable environment. What will I be doing? You would be working as part of a small but growing team who are working on a broad range of transportation planning work including instigating and developing business cases for transport infrastructure projects, developing measures to further sustainable and active travel and behaviour change interventions, working with partner agencies and transport providers, helping to develop transport policies and monitoring the impacts of travel and transport. Your role would be supporting the work of the team and being directly involved in projects for change, future development and policy development. Essential requirements: You will: demonstrate a keen interest in transportation issues; through examples of formal or informal research for personal interest or recent pieces of work. appreciate of the role of a Senior Transport Planner and the relationship with other related disciplines Have a good working knowledge of Planning policy, Active Travel policy and guidance as well as general knowledge of local and national transport policy and the roles and responsibilities of local authorities around planning and transport. Be an enthusiastic advocate of active travel with excellent communication skills and experience of partnerships working with different internal and external organisations Show an understand the political environment and have experience of engaging with a wide range of stakeholders. Qualifications Hold an appropriate degree or equivalent in a related discipline or a degree level qualification enabling eligibility of an appropriate Institute. Want to Know More?
