As part of a small, dedicated Grounds maintenance team, you will help support and promote the organisation by ensuring that the areas are maintained to the highest standard, providing a safe, attractive and functional environment. Key Responsibilities - • Undertake general gardening duties • Undertake maintenance duties for grounds facilities and common areas • Operate equipment as required for grounds’ maintenance work in line with training provided and safe systems of work • Ensure that all equipment is maintained in good condition, is properly looked after and cleaned regularly • Abide by Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Hygiene procedures and standards of performance Future Prospects For the right candidate, after the apprenticeship their will be opportunity to develop within this business. Delivery to be completed on site and off the job training either at Barnsley College or your place of work. Student to complete Level 2 Horticulture and Landscaping Operative. Positive attitude — grounds work can be repetitive or physically demanding; staying upbeat helps maintain pace and quality. Attention to detail — noticing uneven cuts, missed areas, hazards, or plant health issues improves the standard of the site. Teamwork — most tasks are done alongside experienced operatives, so communication and cooperation are important. Respect for health and safety — using tools, machinery, and chemicals requires a mature, safety first mindset. Physical stamina — the role involves lifting, walking, bending, and working in all weather conditions. Pride in appearance of work No qualification required - full training will be given
