Job Purpose:
To oversee the daily operations of the chip shop, ensuring high standards of food quality, customer service, cleanliness, and staff performance. The role includes hands-on frying duties, stock control, and management responsibilities to maximise efficiency and profitability.
Operational Duties:
* Prepare, cook, and serve food to a high standard, with a focus on frying chips, fish, and other menu items.
* Monitor portion sizes, cooking times, and food presentation to maintain consistency.
* Ensure compliance with food hygiene, health, and safety regulations at all times.
* Manage the fryer area efficiently during peak service times.
Management Duties:
* Supervise, train, and motivate staff to deliver excellent customer service.
* Organise staff rotas to ensure adequate cover during busy periods.
* Monitor stock levels, order supplies, and manage deliveries to minimise waste and control costs.
* Handle cash management, tills, and daily reconciliation.
* Address customer complaints and resolve issues professionally.
Housekeeping:
* Maintain cleanliness of the fryer station, kitchen, and front-of-house areas.
* Ensure equipment is cleaned, maintained, and in safe working order.
* Implement cleaning schedules and ensure all staff adhere to them.
Skills & Attributes:
* Proven experience working in a fish & chip shop, takeaway, or fast-food environment.
* Strong frying and food preparation skills.
* Excellent leadership and communication skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and manage busy service periods.
* Good organisational and problem-solving abilities.
* Knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety standards (Level 2/3 Food Hygiene Certificate desirable).
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £16.00-£17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 38 – 45 per week
