Job overview
Job overview
Angel Meadow School is an independent special school for 11–16-year-olds with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Our pupils have a wide range of needs including ADHD, moderate learning difficulties, dyslexia and autism, with many also requiring SEMH support. We are committed to being a small, ambitious, and nurturing community where every pupil is supported to achieve their potential.
We are seeking a passionate Maths Teacher to join Angel Meadow School. This role is dedicated to leading Maths across the school and is a key part of our small SEND/SEMH community.
We welcome applications from candidates seeking full-time or part-time (0.7–0.9 FTE) posts.
In addition, there is an opportunity to take on the role of SENDCO, with a Teaching and Learning Responsibility (TLR) allowance. This is a separate leadership responsibility which may be combined with the Maths Teacher post for the right candidate. We welcome applications from teachers with SEND expertise who are either already qualified or willing to undertake the NASENCO qualification (which we will fully fund).
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality Maths lessons across KS3 and KS4 in small groups of pupils with SEND/SEMH.
* Adapt and differentiate teaching to meet individual EHCP outcomes.
* Plan and deliver engaging lessons that link maths learning to real-life contexts.
* Prepare pupils for accreditation pathways, including GCSE, Functional Skills, and Unit Awards.
* Develop schemes of work and resources for Maths.
* Monitor, assess, and report on pupil progress in line with school policy.
* Foster confidence, independence, and resilience in numeracy and problem-solving.
* Promote positive attitudes towards Maths, including careers and life skills applications.
* Contribute to whole-school enrichment activities, trips, and themed events.
* Work closely with parents, carers, and external agencies to support pupil development.
* Attend CPD, training, and staff meetings.
* Uphold safeguarding and inclusion policies consistently.
What We Offer
* Opportunity to establish Maths provision in a new and growing school.
* Maximum class size of 5 pupils.
* A supportive, close-knit team with a focus on wellbeing and collaboration.
* Professional development: Tailored CPD opportunities in SEND, SEMH, and small-group teaching.
* Work–life balance: Reduced marking and admin, supported teaching teams, and a focus on meaningful progress over paperwork.
* Career progression: Opportunities for leadership responsibilities and additional pay as the school expands (including SENDCO with TLR).
* Central Manchester location with excellent community links.
Key Dates
