Stony Dean School is committed to providing exceptional, research-informed education and pastoral care to students with special needs. Our dedicated team works tirelessly to create a nurturing environment where every child can thrive. We serve 213 boys aged 11-19, most of whom have Autism Spectrum Condition as their primary diagnosis.
We provide small class sizes and personalized support to ensure that the needs of every child are consistently met. This approach enables each student to make progress academically, personally, and socially, ultimately achieving their LIFE goals.

About the role
We are extremely proud of our calm and nurturing environment; simultaneously seeking to challenge students and support them to be the best that they can possibly be. The role of Headteacher is pivotal in shaping the future direction of our school and ensuring the continued success of our pupils.
The new Headteacher will demonstrate the following:
1. Leadership – people focused with a strong ability to lead and inspire staff, manage teams, and drive strategic initiatives with proven track record in a senior leadership role within a secondary SEN setting.
2. Values - shares our passion and vision for all pupils, their learning and ability to reach their full potential must be at the heart of all school decisions.
3. Standards - demonstrated success in improving student outcomes and school performance, and commitment to continue developing our adapted curriculum, designed to support different groups of learner’s successes.
4. Nolan Principles - consistently demonstrate behaviours aligned with the seven ethical guidelines for those in public office in the UK: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty, and leadership.
5. Safeguarding – experience of and commitment to safeguarding, child protection and to promoting health & safety and the wellbeing of pupils.
6. Financial management - understanding of strategic financial planning and managing budgets and resources effectively.
