Data Protection Lead for a Global Insurance Company
Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Data Protection Lead to join their dynamic team. As the Data Protection Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance with data protection regulations across the business. You will play a key role in managing all data protection strategies, working closely with various departments to implement and maintain compliance. You will be managing the UK and EU Data Protection framework, as well as opportunities to work with Dubai and India, alongside the Chief Compliance Officer in the US.
* This position is based in Crewe, UK.
* This role is full-time, with 5 days a week on-site in the Crewe office.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the development, implementation, and management of data protection policies and practices across the company.
* Ensure compliance with ISO27001 standards and other relevant data protection regulations.
* Manage and optimize our OneTrust platform to monitor and maintain data protection compliance.
* Provide leadership and guidance to a small team of data protection specialists, ensuring effective collaboration and achievement of goals.
* Stay updated on the latest developments in data protection laws and regulations, particularly within the EMEA region.
* Work cross-functionally with various teams, including legal and compliance, to ensure data protection requirements are met.
* Develop and deliver training programs to enhance data protection awareness across the organization.
* You will be managing a small team of (1-2) junior data protection specialists.
Requirements:
* 3-5+ years of extensive experience in data protection, with a strong understanding of data privacy laws and regulations.
* Proven experience working with ISO27001.
* Strong skills in using OneTrust for managing data protection compliance.
* Confident in managing a team, with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
* Self-driven and motivated to continuously improve.
* Confident in working relatively autonomously.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience working across the EMEA region and familiarity with related privacy laws.
* Experience in a regulated environment such as insurance, financial services, or within the tech industry.
