Job description
Job Purpose:
Supervise classes to cover for teacher absence and support student activities and clubs.
Main duties:
1. Supervise classes during teacher absences, ensuring all students are engaged with set work and supported in problem-solving and understanding.
2. Distribute work set by absent teachers and provide explanations as needed.
3. Model solutions and answers when appropriate.
4. Manage student behaviour according to school guidelines, ensuring a conducive learning environment.
5. Praise students for effort and achievement, following the academy’s reward system.
6. Support and implement the academy’s behaviour and discipline policies both in class and across the school.
7. Act as a tutor group mentor: register students, accompany them to assemblies, lead mentor activities, and promote student well-being and participation.
8. Assist the SEN team with class delivery and individual support for students with additional needs.
9. Provide individual or small group learning support as directed, helping students to problem-solve and succeed.
10. Prioritize safety for students and staff at all times.
