Become a Governor for The Grange Community Infant School
The Grange Community Infant School is currently recruiting for an experienced Governor to support us strategically in achieving our visions and values of a strong community working together for the success of our children. We pride ourselves with the values of Teamwork, Respect, resilience, Excellence, Community to achieve our outcomes.
If you are a professional who has an interest in education and want to support the Leadership Team with your passion, experience and knowledge – we would love to hear from you!
Governors don’t need specific qualifications, just an ability to listen, think through new ideas and decide what’s best for The Grange CIS as part of a team. You will need to set high expectations and be able to ask challenging questions, but you are not expected to make day to day decisions about how the school is run… That’s the job of the Head Teacher and their Senior Leadership Team.
The Governing Body is a unique and collaborative group of staff, parents and professionals who are dedicated to ensuring our learners receive the very best in their educational lifecycle. It is a real opportunity to make a positive difference and become a key part of the community our provision serves.
More about your contribution and commitments
This role is voluntary, and meetings are a minimum of 6 Full Governing Board Meetings (FGB) and few additional meetings to support the committees focussing on finance, pay and HT appraisal in an academic year. There may be times where you are requested at short notice to join urgent meetings - but in these rare cases this is avoided as much as possible.
Establishing and maintaining professional relationships with senior leaders and colleagues on the FGB will be key, so your ability to build relationships with colleagues is pivotal, and getting to know the provision, including visiting occasionally during operational hours will be ideal for you to integrate yourself as an active member of the FGB.
The Grange will carry out a section 128 check on all candidates. A person issued with a section 128 direction under the Education and Skills Act 2008 is prohibited or restricted from taking part in the management of a school.
