The Site Engineer will support the delivery of on-site construction activities by ensuring accurate setting out, effective coordination of subcontractors, and adherence to quality and safety standards. The role requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual who can work collaboratively with site teams to ensure works are delivered in line with programme, specification and regulatory requirements.
Key Duties / Responsibilities
With a flexible approach to supporting all BCEGI activities, including but not limited to:
Site Engineering & Technical Delivery
* Carry out accurate setting out for construction works, ensuring all activities are delivered in accordance with design specifications and tolerances
* Interpret drawings and technical information to ensure works are executed correctly and efficiently
* Provide technical support to site teams and subcontractors, ensuring clarity of information and buildability of design
* Contribute to design coordination, identifying and resolving potential issues prior to construction
Quality Assurance & Compliance
* Carry out inspections to ensure works are delivered in line with specifications, quality standards and project requirements
* Support the implementation of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and quality control procedures
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date site records, including as-built information
* Identify defects or non-conformances and support timely resolution
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
* Ensure all works are carried out in compliance with company HSE policies and CDM Regulations 2015
* Support the implementation of safe systems of work and promote a strong safety culture on site
* Identify hazards and contribute to risk mitigation measures
* Support incident investigations where required
Coordination & Project Delivery
* Work closely with subcontractors to ensure effective coordination of site activities
* Monitor site progress and contribute to achieving programme milestones
* Support the delivery of works in line with project programme, quality and cost expectations
* Assist in the efficient utilisation of labour, plant and materials on site
Work Experience / Expectations
* 2–5 years’ experience as a Site Engineer, ideally within UK construction projects
* Demonstrable experience in setting out and site engineering activities
* Experience working with subcontractors and supporting site coordination and delivery
* Experience working in a live construction environment
Qualification / Health & Safety Requirements
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline (or relevant experience)
* Valid CSCS card
* Understanding of UK construction standards and regulations
* Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, including CDM Regulations 2015
* Familiarity with setting out equipment (e.g. Total station)
