Learning Assistant PEF (Fixed Term)

£17,.57 - £18,.80
We are seeking to appoint a Fixed Term 0.8 FTE term time PEF Learning Assistant until the end of summer term working 27.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year. We would also consider applications from those who would be interested in working a portion of these hours.
This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.
The Learning Assistants at Kirkcudbright Primary are vital in supporting the young people at our school and are highly valued members of our whole school staff.
The successful candidate must be educated to SCQF Level 4 (e.g. Standard Grade General, National 4) or equivalent, including Numeracy and Literacy or equivalent and experience of working with children and/or young people. Experience of working with children/young people with additional support needs, would be advantageous. A willingness to undertake training will be required, as part of our induction and professional development programmes
Kirkcudbright Primary School was built in and is situated in the beautiful harbour town of Kirkcudbright, also known as ‘The Artists’ Town’. We have strong links with the local community and utilises many opportunities to enrich children’s experiences within and out with the school.
We are very proud of our welcoming ethos, positive relationships and the quality of learners’ experiences. We had a positive HMIE inspection in June and have a strong foundation to build upon.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act. From 28 February, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
