Specialist Learning Disability Physiotherapist – Community Learning Disability Team
Apply for the Specialist Learning Disability Physiotherapist role with NHS Scotland.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, providing acute, primary, community, and mental health services to over 1.15 million people. This role will be based in the Glasgow South Disability Service, working alongside senior physiotherapy staff as part of a multidisciplinary learning disability team, which includes specialist nurses, occupational therapists, clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, speech and language therapists, and social workers.
Key responsibilities include:
* Delivering physiotherapy care to adults with learning disabilities and additional complex needs, such as neuromuscular disorders, genetic syndromes, mobility and movement difficulties, and sensory processing disorders.
* Providing postural management solutions, including wheelchair, seating, sleep systems, orthotics, and other assistive devices.
* Offering rebound therapy and hydrotherapy services as required.
* Training clients, parents, carers, and support staff to promote outcome maintenance and independence.
* Working within a community setting and participating in multidisciplinary meetings.
Qualifications and experience required:
* Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy.
* Registration with the HCPC.
* Interest in working within the learning disability field.
* Excellent communication skills and a desire to work in a community setting.
* Membership of Disclosure Scotland’s PVG Scheme.
Working conditions:
* Permanent post, 30 hours per week (Monday to Friday).
* Shift pattern: 30 hours per week.
* Full‑time working hours will be reduced to 36 hours effective 1 April 2026.
* Salary pro‑rate for part‑time hours.
* Location: Glasgow South Disability Team.
