Ward Manager – Haematology & Oncology Day Care Unit

Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced senior children's nurse to lead the day‑to‑day operations of the Haematology & Oncology Daycare Unit. The Ward Manager will be responsible for delivering high‑quality, compassionate care, driving operational excellence, and fostering professional leadership among the team.
About You
* Excellent clinical, organisational and communication skills.

* Current RSCN qualification and NMC registration.
* Minimum of two years’ senior Band 6 experience (or equivalent).
Main Duties
* Lead the day‑to‑day operations of the Daycare Unit.
* Work closely with the Lead Nurse for Haematology & Oncology and the Inpatient Ward Manager to provide cross‑cover and contribute to service development.
* Drive change, innovation and excellence in care delivery.
* Act as a key driver for professional leadership and staff development.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
* RN Child (RSCN) and a degree or relevant qualification.
* Significant experience in paediatric haematology/oncology with at least two years at Band 6 or above.
* ENB 998 or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification.
* Leadership skills and experience in people management.
* Knowledge of health & safety, infection control and safe practice (Lifting and Handling, Sharps, COSHH).
Desirable
* Leadership or management qualification.
* Experience with budget management and recruitment.
* Quality assurance principles and experience with NHS quality frameworks.
* Current Nursing/Health Issues Quality Assurance principles.

Employment Details
Band 7 – £47,810 to £54,710 per annum. Permanent contract. Working pattern: Part‑time (22.5 hours per week). Location: Western Bank, Sheffield, S10 2TH.
