Internal - Advert Assistant Trainer Salary: £38,121.33 Hours: Monday – Thursday 7.15 -5.30 Internal – Assistant Trainer Salary: £38,121.33 Hours: Monday – Thursday 7.15 -5.30 (39 hours) Role Purpose The Assistant Trainer reports into the Team Leader - Training & supports the delivery of technical and practical training across Davenham Switchgear. The role ensures new and existing employees are trained, competent, and confident to work safely and to the required quality standards. The position plays a key role in onboarding new starters, maintaining competency certifications, retraining employees when needed, and mentoring apprentices as they develop their skills. This role would be suitable for an experienced Panel Wirer. Key Responsibilities Training Delivery Assist the Team Leader - Training, in delivering structured training programmes for new employees. Support classroom, workshop, and on-the-job training activities. Help prepare training materials, equipment, and training areas. Demonstrate correct working methods, safe practices, and quality standards. Provide coaching and feedback during practical training sessions. Competency & Recertification Support the planning and delivery of competency recertification for existing staff. Observe employees performing tasks and assess competency against company standards. Maintain accurate training and competency records. Highlight skill gaps and escalate training needs to the Lead Trainer. Retraining & Continuous Improvement Assist with retraining employees where performance, quality, or safety issues are identified. Support the development of refresher training sessions. Contribute ideas to improve training processes and materials. Promote best practice and standardised working methods across production teams. Apprentice Mentoring Provide day-to-day support and mentoring to apprentices. Help apprentices develop technical skills, safe behaviours, and confidence. Monitor apprentice progress and provide feedback to the Lead Trainer and management. Encourage a positive learning culture and strong work ethic. Health, Safety & Quality Promote a strong safety-first culture in all training activities. Ensure training is delivered in line with company procedures and safe systems of work. Reinforce quality standards and right-first-time principles. Skills & Experience Essential Panel Wirer experienced in electrical assembly, switchgear manufacturing, or similar production environment. Strong practical understanding of safe working practices. Good communication and coaching skills. Ability to support and motivate learners at different skill levels. Organised with good record-keeping skills. Desirable Previous training, coaching, or mentoring experience. Recognised electrical or engineering qualification. Experience working with apprentices.
