Barnsley Hospital NHSFoundation Trust (BHNFT) is delighted to be looking to appoint a substantive CommunityPaediatric Consultant to join our well-respected and dynamic team based in New Street Health Centre.

Sub-specialty interestand hybrid working patterns to facilitate well-being and work life balance willbe considered and encouraged.

This 0.7 WTE post includes Neurodisabilityclinics, Initial health Assessments for looked after children andMulti-disciplinary assessments for children with social communicationdifficulties. The team works closely with Local authority, 0-19 service, therapistsand other agencies.

Theteam of community Paediatricians conduct locality clinics in different areas ofBarnsley.

Skills and Abilities

* Willingness and ability to fulfil the key elements of the job description.
* Possession of the clinical skills required to perform the job.
* Ability to develop the service.
* Ability to develop effective working relationships on an individual, multi-professional and team basis with all levels of staff.
* Have good negotiating and leadership skills and experience of multi-agency working at local and regional level.
* Have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express complex medical issues in lay terms and work professionalism.
* Experience completed ADOS assessments.


Experience

* Experience in the management of all aspects of community paediatrics including neurodisability and autism.
* Adequate experience working in a multiagency setting.
* Experience in managing children in vulnerable situations, safeguarding children and managing the medical needs of complex looked after children.


Qualifications

* MRCPCH or equivalent.
* Full GMC registration with specialist registration in paediatrics (or within 6 months of CCT at time of interview).
* Sub Speciality Training in Paediatric Neurodisability


Audit, Research and Teaching

* Understanding of clinical governance and the individual responsibilities it implies.
* Knowledge of multidisciplinary audit principles.
* Evidence of direct involvement in 2 specific medical audits in the last 18 months.
* Ability to critically appraise published research and incorporate it into clinical practice where appropriate.
* Evidence of teaching appropriate to medical students and doctors in training and multidisciplinary team.
* Training in areas such as recruitment and selection, equal opportunities, leadership, planning and change management, appraisal.


Management

* Experience in Management
* Evidence of involvement in a research project.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

£109,725 to £145,478 a yearper annum pro rata
