About the Role: Do you want to be at the forefront of one of the world’s most ambitious sustainability initiatives? Balfour Beatty has created iconic buildings and infrastructure worldwide, and alongside consortium partners, has been selected by bp to construct a first-of-a-kind fully integrated gas-fired power station with carbon capture and storage as part of the Net Zero Teesside project.
The Turbine Manager will provide leadership and oversight of all activities relating to the installation, commissioning, and delivery of turbine packages within the Net Zero Teesside project. This role will act as the key interface between engineering, construction, supply chain partners, and client stakeholders to ensure turbines are delivered safely, to quality standards, on schedule, and within budget.
Responsibilities
* Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of all turbine-related works (installation, commissioning, and integration)
* Manage subcontractors, OEMs, and specialist suppliers, ensuring contract compliance and performance
* Oversee health, safety, environmental and quality (HSEQ) requirements, embedding a strong safety culture across all turbine operations
* Develop and maintain turbine delivery schedules, progress reports, and risk registers
* Act as the technical and managerial point of contact for turbine scope with client, partners, and internal stakeholders
* Ensure turbine works are fully integrated into wider project schedules, interfaces, and commissioning activities
* Provide leadership and mentoring to turbine project teams, engineers, and supervisors
* Manage change control processes, budget forecasts, and cost control measures for turbine packages
* Support stakeholder engagement, progress meetings, and reporting to senior management
* Drive innovation, lessons learned, and best practices for turbine delivery within Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick
Qualifications
* Strong leadership experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and contractors
* Familiarity with EPC contract delivery, supplier management, and client interface
* Excellent knowledge of HSE standards and practices in heavy engineering/construction environments
* Strong financial and commercial awareness (cost control, forecasting, reporting)
* Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
* Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
* Extensive project management experience in large-scale energy, power generation, or major infrastructure projects
* Proven track record managing turbine installation and commissioning (gas, steam, or renewables)
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent desirable
* Project Management certification (e.g., APM, PMP, PRINCE2) advantageous
