Prospero Teaching is seeking a supportive, positive, and encouraging Tutor to work with a young person transitioning into Year 8, who has an EHCP and a diagnosis of ASD and Anxiety. This student finds the traditional classroom environment overwhelming and has experienced significant gaps in their education. The successful Tutor will deliver engaging and well-paced Maths and English sessions and provide transport to and from sessions at a local library in Portsmouth.
About the Student:
Enjoys card games, especially Uno, and has a strong interest in Maths and numbers.
Has a fantastic imagination but finds writing challenging.
May appear shy at first, but once comfortable, is chatty with a great sense of humour
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience working with children with ASD and Anxiety.
A nurturing and patient approach to learning.
A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Ability to create a safe, structured, and fun learning environment.As a n SEN Tutor you will:
Deliver engaging and well-paced Maths and English sessions tailored to the student's interests and needs.
Provide transport to and from sessions at a local library in Portsmouth.
Build a trusting relationship with the student, encouraging confidence and creativityAbout you:
Experience working with children with ASD or similar needs
Understanding of EHCPs and how to implement them
Patience, empathy, and a child-centred approach

Essential & Desirable Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year of experience working within UK schools- ESSENTIAL
Background in SEN education or therapeutic support
Experience supporting children in community or outdoor settingsTo be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:
Hold right to work in the UK
Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
Provide references upon request
Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
