This Clinical Practice Educator post provides a wonderful opportunity for an experienced ITU nurse who has worked in a band 6 capacity or has had exposure to unit coordination. A passion and enthusiasm for staff development and education is essential. You will need excellent communication skills alongside the ability to work autonomously, managing your diary to best support the ITU team. This is a part-time (23 hours per week) position based at Glangwili General Hospital, with the possibility of covering in Prince Philip Hospital.
As a clinical practice educator, you will be responsible for:
1. Coordinating and delivering new staff induction programmes, mandatory study days, education, training, and supporting staff in achieving the Step Competency Framework. Maintaining staff training records and submitting training reports.
2. Attending local service improvement meetings, supporting the implementation and evaluation of innovative practices.
3. Working clinically with junior nurses to support the attainment of Step One competencies.
4. Supporting the practice educators team in delivering mandatory study days, providing bedside ad hoc education and training, and supporting senior staff in achieving Step 2 and 3 competencies.
5. Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to meet GPICS standards and support the implementation of innovative practices, leading to high-quality patient care.
6. Maintaining staff training records and submitting reports to the practice educator manager.
