Demonstrates advanced specialist practice, undertaking holistic assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for patients throughout the pre-and peri-operative pathway.

The post holder will be expected to rotate between specialties.


Main duties of the job

Responsible for the quality of care delivered within the clinical area, empowering and enabling the peri-operative team.

Works collaboratively and co-operatively with members of the multi-disciplinary team to deliver Operating Theatre Services and provide expert advice and support for other healthcare professional and agencies.

Deputises for the Team Leader when required.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* NMC Registered Nurse/HCPC Registered Operating Department Practitioner
* Teaching & Assessing course or active on the mentor database
* Specialist theoretical and practical knowledge relevant to area
* Knowledge of local policies/procedures and guidelines
* Knowledge of national strategies related to sphere of nursing/midwifery and current professional nursing issues
* Degree in relevant clinical/professional subject
* PALS/APLS
* Knowledge of leadership and management theories


Experience

* Extensive experience in Theatre
* Experience of undertaking research work/audit work and standard setting


Aptitude and Abilities

* Evidence of good organisational skills
* Advanced clinical skills/knowledge relevant to area of expertise
* Evidence of people management and leadership skills alongside the ability to care with warmth and understanding
* Evidence of critical analysis skills
* Effective decision maker and problem solver
* Ability to negotiate and communicate with patients, relatives and all members of the Multidisciplinary Team
* Ability to adapt to and propose changes within working situation
