Overview
We are seeking a Manager to lead the Economic Crime Unit (ECU), part of the National Environmental Crime Unit (NECU). The ECU is a specialist team dedicated to removing the financial benefit from criminals. This role requires strong leadership and collaboration with internal and external partners.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage two Team Leaders (Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigation Team) and a Senior Financial Intelligence Officer.
* Provide strong leadership, motivate and develop the team, manage performance and work delivery.
* Set the strategic direction for financial investigations to ensure compliance with POCA (Proceeds of Crime Act).
* Collaborate with internal teams (Investigatory Teams, Intelligence & Partnerships, Legal) and external partners (Police, National Crime Agency, HMRC).
* Influence senior stakeholders to align Environment Agency priorities with enforcement activities.
* Support the wider organisation in improving processes and increasing understanding of POCA; share lessons learned and advise other enforcement officers.
* Contribute to changes in technical documentation and training materials.
* Work as part of a nationally dispersed unit addressing serious and complex criminality involving organised crime networks.
Experience & Qualifications
* Exceptional leadership skills, ideally with experience leading a dispersed team.
* Good understanding of financial investigations and the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).
* Experience in law enforcement and understanding of the National Intelligence Model.
* Strong communication skills, including delivering feedback, managing performance, and building relationships with external stakeholders.
* Ability to work under pressure and manage a varied workload.
* Experience identifying areas for improvement and leading changes to working practices.
* Experience developing and enhancing the capability of a team and its members.
Additional Information
* This is a hybrid role with work from home plus nearest office; travel across the country for meetings and operational duties may be required. Incident response may be required and could attract additional payment. Training and workplace adjustments are available.
